What Are Affiliate Programs?

An affiliate program is a marketing arrangement where a company pays a commission to third parties (like RemitIndex) for referring customers. When you click on a provider link on our site and complete a transfer or sign up for a service, we may earn a commission from that provider.

Here's how it works:

  1. You compare providers on RemitIndex
  2. You click on a provider link (e.g., "Visit Wise")
  3. You complete a transfer or sign up on the provider's website
  4. The provider pays RemitIndex a small commission (usually $5-20)

Important: This commission does NOT increase the cost to you. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to the provider.

Which Providers Have Affiliate Programs?

We participate in affiliate programs with some (but not all) of the providers we compare:

  • Remittance Services: Wise, Remitly, Western Union, XE, Revolut, and others
  • Credit Cards: Select bank affiliate programs (Chase, American Express, etc.)
  • eSIM Providers: Airalo, Holafly, and other travel connectivity services

Not all providers have affiliate programs. Some providers we compare do not offer affiliate commissions. We still include them in our comparisons based solely on their rates and fees.

How We Maintain Independence

Affiliate relationships do NOT influence our rankings. Here's how we ensure unbiased comparisons:

Algorithmic Rankings

Our comparison tables rank providers based solely on total value to users (exchange rate + fees). This is calculated automatically by our system, with zero manual adjustment based on affiliate status.

All Providers Included

We include providers even if they don't have affiliate programs. If a non-affiliate provider offers better rates, they'll rank #1 in our comparison.

No "Featured" or "Sponsored" Listings

We do not accept payment from providers for premium placement, "featured" badges, or higher rankings. Every provider is evaluated on the same criteria.

Transparent Methodology

Our methodology page explains exactly how we collect data and rank providers. This process is independent of affiliate relationships.

Why We Use Affiliate Programs

RemitIndex is a free service. We don't charge users to access our comparison tools, read our blog, or use any feature of our platform.

Affiliate commissions help us:

  • Maintain and improve our rate-collection technology (scraping, APIs, data storage)
  • Update exchange rates every 6 hours (infrastructure costs)
  • Publish comprehensive guides and educational content
  • Expand to new corridors, providers, and financial products
  • Provide free, accessible financial comparison tools to the NRI community

Without affiliate revenue, RemitIndex would need to charge users directly or display intrusive advertising. We believe affiliate programs are the most user-friendly monetization model.

Other Revenue Sources

In addition to affiliate commissions, RemitIndex may earn revenue from:

  • Display Advertising: We may display ads from Google AdSense or other networks (clearly marked as "Advertisement")
  • Sponsored Content: If we publish sponsored articles, they will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" or "Partner Content"

As of March 2026, affiliate commissions are our primary revenue source. We do not currently display ads or accept sponsored content.

FTC Compliance & Disclosure

RemitIndex complies with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on affiliate disclosure. According to FTC guidelines, we must clearly disclose material connections with providers we recommend.

Our disclosure practices:

  • This affiliate disclosure page is linked in our footer on every page
  • Individual blog posts include affiliate disclosures at the top or bottom
  • Comparison tables include a note about affiliate relationships

Your Trust Matters Most

At RemitIndex, we're building a long-term relationship with the NRI community. Short-term affiliate commissions are not worth compromising our integrity.
